Civil War Union vs Confederate

A couple of people have mentioned that these two /had/ personified names:
Billy Yank (Union)
Johnny Reb (Confederacy)

Thanks for pointing this out! I don't know how I studied this conflict and didn't come across that!

These are my head-canons for what the Union and the Confederacy would have looked like. In my head-cannon, neither is America himself. America is the force trying to keep the two of them together.

Johnny hates both Billy and Alfred.

Billy likes Alfred, but he thinks Alfred is a bit naive for thinking that the North and the South can remain connected. He feels that Alfred is bogged down in ideals of a unified nation that stop him from being able to move forward. Much as he would hate to admit it, Alfred feels a bit like a relic of the past. A noble idea, but impractical in the long run. He feels that they both had to face a decision where they decided what was most important: A unified America, or the abolition of slavery. America chose a union. Union chose abolition.
